Against the Spread Pick
The Zion Williamson era is here…finally. Picked No. 1 overall this past summer, Williamson has been sidelined by a knee problem but will make his NBA debut against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. Thus the Pelicans will obviously be playing some inspired basketball. In fact, they already have been in recent weeks. New Orleans is 10-5 in its last 15 games since a 7-22 start, including 5-2 in its last seven. San Antonio is 3-7-1 ATS in its last 11 against opponents with losing records and 6-21 ATS in its last 27 trips to New Orleans. The Pelicans are 13-2-1 ATS in their last 16 overall, 6-0 ATS in their last six at home, 6-0 ATS in their last six against opponents with losing records, and 14-6 ATS in the last 20 meetings between the two teams. Williamson and company will put on a show, to the extent that NEW ORLEANS should cover in front of the home crowd.
Over Under Pick
For San Antonio, LaMarcus Aldridge has been held below his season scoring average (19.1 ppg) in seven of the past nine contests. New Orleans guard Lonzo Ball has scored no more than eight points in two of the past three. The under is 9-4-1 in the Spurs’ last 14 against opponents with losing records. This is a huge number, so lean toward the UNDER even though the Pelicans play a bunch of high-scoring games.
