Puck Line Pick
The Washington Capitals are arguably the best team in the NHL this season. They are currently in 1st place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 34-12-5 and 73 points, which is the best record in the NHL. The Capitals saw their four-game winning streak snapped following a 4-5 home loss against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday. They will look to rebound following the loss when they travel to take on the Ottawa Senators on Friday. Meanwhile, the Senators have the 3rd worst record in the Eastern Conference with a record of 18-23-9 and 45 points. However, they are coming off a 5-2 road win over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. I don’t see the Capitals having any problem handing the Senators a loss, which is why I’m taking the puck line of Washington in this game.
Over Under Pick
Washington is one of the highest-scoring teams in the league this season. They enter this game averaging the 4th-most goals per game with 3.63. The Capitals have also been a reliable team defensively, as they are allowing the 11th-fewest goals per game with 2.96. Meanwhile, the Senators are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the NHL this year. They enter this game averaging 2.76 goals per game, which ranks 23rd. Defensively they have also struggled as they are allowing the 3rd-most goals per game at 3.38. I look for the Capitals to be one of the highest-scoring teams on Friday, which is why I’m putting my money on the over 6.5 goals in this spot.
