Against the Spread Pick
This time of the year you generally find conference play only but this is not one of those games. This is Big Five stuff in Philly so even though it looks like an easy Villanova win, that might not be the case. Nova broke a three game losing streak earlier in the week, narrowly edging Marquette. I am not worried about the Wildcats but we have to acknowledge their ceiling is lower than it has been the last five years. This is the first of three in a row on the road but I think they will be focused. Temple has won their last two but it does not look like the Owls are going dancing this season. I was bullish on them coming into the season as the duo of Quinton Rose and Nate-Pierre Louis is very productive but there just isn’t enough around those two. Rose is a skinny wing who can score but his efficiency is way off. Take Villanova.
Over Under Pick
Temple has lost the last six in this rivalry. No surprise there but it was a little surprising that four of those six have gone over. I always see these contests as tough affairs but maybe that has been the wrong way to look at it. With both programs down though I think that the under is the way to go.
