Against The Spread Pick

There is some good news for the DePaul Blue Demons. They pushed the Villanova Wildcats to overtime on Jan. 14, albeit in a losing record. But that is where the good news ends for DePaul. This team is in the midst of a seven-game losing streak and sports a 1-11 record in its past 12 outings. And the additional bad news for Blue Demon bettors is that they are getting only five points on Wednesday probably due to the competitiveness of the previous head-to-head matchup in addition to home-court advantage this time around. Paul Reed (15.1 ppg) has been held to fewer points than his season average in five of the last six games. Villanova has righted the ship from a three-game losing skid with two straight victories. Collin Gillespie delivered 29 points during a 20-point drubbing of Temple on Sunday. The WILDCATS should be able to take care of business.

Over Under Pick

DePaul is an extremely consistent team in terms of offense–which is not exactly a good thing. You can count on the Blue Demons scoring in the 60s just about every time out (they average more than that due to some non-conference outputs that inflate it). Given Reed’s struggles, DePaul likely won’t reach the 70 mark on Wednesday. Only 134 points were scored in regulation in the previous head-to-head matchup between these two Big East rivals. Lean toward the UNDER.
