Against the Spread Pick
It will be a battle between the top two teams in the American East Conference when the Stony Brook Seawolves entertain the Vermont Catamounts. Although Vermont owns a two-game cushion atop the standings, Stony Brook won the previous head-to-head matchup on the road via an 81-77 decision on Jan. 8. The Seawolves have won four of their last five contests, falling only at New Hampshire during this stretch. They feature three different players averaging at least 13.4 points per game, including Makale Foreman at 15.3 ppg. The Catamounts have won 11 in a row, but during the streak they have defeated Main by two points and Hartford by one–both on the road. It is worth noting that the underdog is 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings between the two teams. Five points should be enough for the SEAWOLVES to cover.
Over Under Pick
There is a reason why Stony Brook is getting five points. Leading scorer Elijah Olaniyi (18.9 ppg) is doubtful with an ankle injury that he sustained in the previous contest. That is also a reason why points could come at a premium on Thursday. The Seawolves will likely slow down the pace and turn this into a defensive struggle. Vermont knows a thing or two about defense, as well. It has limited 10 of its 11 opponents during the winning streak to fewer than 70 points. Take the UNDER.
