Interim champion Dustin Poirier was defeated by lightweight world winner Khabib Nurmagomedov in their UFC 242 title unification bout.
30, nurmagomedov, filed the Poirier of America in the third round on Saturday to make it 28 wins from 28 fights.
The Russian outwrestled Poirier over the initial two rounds before finally securing a rear naked choke to cement his status since the UFC’s number one fighter.
