Money Line Pick
The Boston Bruins left it all on the ice in a tough road game in Philadelphia, but a mistake by Brad Marchand in a shootout blew the Bruin’s chances at the victory. They now face a tough second game of a back-to-back with a stop at Nationwide Arena in Columbus. The Blue Jackets have been hindered by injuries for much of the season, but they have fought through it all. Now they get a real chance to make some noise in the Eastern Conference, as the Bruins’ visit is the first of three straight home games for Columbus. These teams just met on January 2nd in Boston, and the Blue Jackets were able to get a 2-1 win. The road only gets tougher but given their recent momentum and the Bruins coming off a draining game against the Flyers, backing the Blue Jackets at home is the right move here.
Over Under Pick
The last meeting between the Bruins and Blue Jackets needed overtime to decide the winner, and that resulted in a 2-1 win for Columbus. This match-up could easily replicate the results of that game. Boston is coming off a tough 6-5 shootout loss against Philadelphia, which could have easily drained a team that has been playing at a high level for much of the season. Columbus’ last two games have resulted in totals of four goals or less. Boston is a proven scoring threat, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have games where they struggle to produce. Taking the under 5.5 is the smarter play here.
