Money Line Pick
NHL action heats up as the Toronto Maple Leafs travel south for a clash at American Airlines Center in Dallas. In what is just the second game for both teams since coming back from the All-Star break, the Stars will look for a second straight win over a team from the Atlantic Division. Toronto returned to action with an impressive win against Nashville to resume play. Dallas was able to limit Tampa Bay, in their last game, and they will need yet another strong effort from their defensive unit if they want to slow down the leagues’ third highest-scoring team. Toronto has won eight of the last 10 head-to-head meetings. The Leafs have also made the road, their more favorite place in recent games, winning six of the last seven games away from Toronto. Call it crazy, given how well Dallas has played at home, but taking the Maple Leafs on the money line has to be the play here.
Over Under Pick
Goals haven’t been the biggest part of Dallas’ strong run as of late, as they are currently 28th in the NHL in that category. Yet they have limited some of the best scoring teams to well under their average in their last four games. That includes limiting Tampa Bay to just two goals in their previous game. Toronto has made goal scoring near the top of its to-do list, as their numbers sit near the top of the NHL. The goal totals in the Maple Leafs last 10 games are some big numbers. They are coming off a convincing 5-2 victory against the Predators, which was their eighth game in their last 10 to finish with seven or more goal totals. Dallas likes to limit the scoring, but they have recently won a game against the Wild 7-0. Toronto likes to push a team that struggles to produce, to higher totals. That makes taking an over six-goal total a must.
