Against the Spread Pick
Damian Lillard poured in 61 points on Monday and his team won. That is just about where the good news ends for the Portland Trail Blazers. Portland needed overtime to beat the lowly Warriors despite Lillard’s heroics and it is still outside the playoff cut line in the Western Conference with a 19-26 record (1-2 in its past three games). C.J. McCollum (ankle) is questionable for Thursday’s date with the Dallas Mavericks, so Lillard may have to play hero ball once again while attempting to lead a squad that has been riddled with injuries throughout this 2019-20 campaign. Dallas is 4-1 in its past five outings, coming in at No. 5 in the West. Luka Doncic has led the Mavericks in points, assists, and rebounds in two straight games, scoring 35 and 36 points during this stretch. They have not lost to anyone other than the two Los Angeles teams and Denver since Jan. 4. DALLAS should win and win big.
Over Under Pick
Doncic is enjoying another hot streak and he now has help in the form of Kristaps Porzingis, who is back from injury. Dallas has scored at least 120 points in three of the past four contests. For Portland, Lillard has delivered at least 34 points in three straight games, capped off by his recent eruption at Golden State’s expense. Neither one of these teams is overly interested in defense, so expect plenty of points to be scored. Lean toward the OVER.
