Tampa Bay Lightning

Los Angeles Kings

TBL Lightning -1.5 Point Spread

Under 6.0 Game Totals

Puck Line Pick

Not too long ago, Tampa Bay were red-hot and looked like the best team in the league. They have since cooled down over their last five games. During this stretch, they are just 2-3 with their last game ending in a loss to the Dallas Stars in overtime. As for Los Angeles, they continue to play terribly, having lost four in a row an eight of their last ten. The Kings are 16 points behind Vegas for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, so even with the amount of games remaining, they are more than likely out of contention. It is important to note that Tampa Bay plays some of their best hockey on the road. As it stands, the Lightning have the 2nd best road record in the NHL, sitting at 14-8-3. On the flip side, the Kings are the 3rd worst home team. I cannot trust the Kings to all of sudden turn things around, so I will take Tampa Bay on the puck line to win this game.

Over Under Pick

The total for this game is 6 and I will look to the under here. This mainly has to do with the Kings’ inability to score at a high rate. They only average 2.5 goals per game compared to the Lightning, who score 3.6. Also, in home games, the Kings allow just 2.73 goals, so their defending has been been somewhat consistent in their own arena. The under is 7-2 in Los Angeles’ last 9 home games and I expect Tampa Bay to do majority of the scoring here. The Lightning will shut down the Kings anemic scoring and I like the under as a lean.
