Money Line Pick
The New York Islanders couldn’t defend their home ice, and now they face the second game of a back-to-back in a clash at PNC Arena in Carolina. The Hurricanes must find a way to stop the bleeding, as their current three-game losing streak has only made it tougher. Carolina has been able to win each of the last six head-to-head meetings. That includes the first meeting this season, as the Hurricanes rolled to a very convincing 5-2 victory. New York has been in a rut lately, and their 1-4 record in their last five games haven’t helped the cause. The Islanders can’t afford another loss here, as they currently hold the final guaranteed playoff spot in the Metropolitan. Carolina returning home looks to be at the right time. Backing the Hurricanes on the money line at home is the right call.
Over Under Pick
New York exploded out of the gates to start the season, but their goal average has dropped considerably as the season has gone along. Carolina has remained pretty consistent all season, but their recent games have laid heavily on the under. The Islanders were able to score four goals in their previous game against Washington, but it wasn’t enough as the Capitals got the 6-4 win. The Islanders have liked the over, while the Hurricanes have had five straight games finish with five-goal totals or less. The under has been a good play in four of the last six head-to-head meetings at PNC Arena and that should likely continue here. Back under 5.5.
