St. John’s

Against the Spread Pick

St. John’s started strong but things went off the rails, or more likely they found their level. There is some talent on this team but the guards are maddeningly inconsistent and Mustapha Heron is now out for the season. He provided a little bit of everything.  The way this team has been trending this looks like it could be a blowout but Villanova is not as strong as they have been recently either. After back to back to back losses earlier in the month Villanova has responded with four wins in a row, the last three covers. Don’t forget this is a team that beat Kansas so its ceiling is high, even if it lacks something overall. Saddiq Bey has finally emerged as their best player but they need Colin Gillespie to play well to reach their potential.  Probably the best thing about Villanova this season is its versatility. They do not have to play their best to win here. Take the Wildcats.

Over Under Pick

Villanova can be one of the best defensive teams in the country, just take a look at that Kansas tape. St. John’s is not nearly as skilled or schooled as the Jayhawks but they do play with pace. They might be able to get this one going to an over pace but I am not too confident in that result. Take the under here.
