Against the Spread Pick
The St. John’s Red Storm may find themselves in second-to-last in the Big East, but they have been playing some of their best basketball of late. They kept it to within 12 points at Creighton, picked up a solid win over Providence, and then lost to Xavier by a respectable 77-74 margin on Monday. Marcellus Earlington (9.7 points per game) is averaging 18.0 ppg while reaching double-figures in each of the past three outings. The Seton Hall Pirates top the conference standings but have lost two of their last three games. Amazingly enough, they have not won by double-digits since Jan. 11. St. John’s is 6-2 ATS in its last eight following an ATS loss. The Pirates are 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall, 0-4 ATS in their last four at home, and 1-5 ATS in their last six as favorites. Double-digits in the points department should be enough for the RED STORM.
Over Under Pick
For St. John’s, Mustapha Heron sustained an ankle injury earlier this month and is out for the season. Seton Hall’s Sandro Mamukelashvili has made only five of his last 18 three-point attempts. The under is 7-2 in the Red Storm’s last nine on the road and 35-16-1 in their last 52 against opponents with winning percentages over .600. It is also 7-3-1 in the Pirares’ last 11 at home and 7-3 in their last 10 as home favorites. Look for this one to stay UNDER the total.
