Against The Spread Pick
The Red Storm used a huge second half to knock off the Georgetown Hoyas and will advance to the second round of the Big East tournament to take on the top seeded Creighton Bluejays. One of the biggest problems for this Bluejays team is they will be without Marcus Zegarowski. The Bluejays guard just recently had surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee, so he obviously will not be ready for this game. Creighton do not have to worry too much because a loss does not knock them out of the Big Dance, but of course they still want to win the Big East. The Bluejays are also looking to avenge a 91-71 loss to the Red Storm just under two weeks ago. This was a game where the Red Storm shot an unreal percentage from the field, including the three-point line. With their momentum spilling over from the first round game, look for St. John’s to come out ready to play and make this a competitive game. I believe without their best player, Creighton could struggle to score in this game, so I am electing to take the Red Storm to keep it close and I would not be surprised if they won outright.
Over Under Pick
Both game between these team flew over the total and I expect more of the same in the third meeting. The first round game for the Red Storm did manage to stay under because of a great second half defensive performance, but the Bluejays are better than Georgetown, so they are likely going to get their points. This would be a much smaller play because of the loss of Creighton’s best player, but I would lean to the over if I had to play it.
