Money Line Pick
Some Friday night NHL action will see the San Jose Sharks take on the Winnipeg Jets. The Sharks find themselves in the cellar this season, not exactly what they expecting from this group. As of Thursday night, they are 12 points behind Arizona for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. While they are not officially out of it yet, so much is going to have to go their way if they want any chance of making a late season run. On the other side, the Jets are in much better shape, but still find themselves sitting outside the playoffs. Though they are just 1 point behind Arizona, so their chances to make a run are still very high. Now Winnipeg has not been a great home team this season, posting a record of 14-13-3. It is still better than San Jose on the road, where they are 10-14-3. The Jets are already 2-0 against the Sharks this year and are the hotter team entering this game. That said, if I was going to bet this game, it would be the Jets or nothing.
Over Under Pick
The total is what I like in this game more as we have two relatively low scoring teams. In fact, the Sharks average just 2.6 goals per game, while the Jets score 2.9. Defense could be a little more of an issues as both sides allow an average of at least 3 goals per game. Most recently, the Jets defense is improving, allowing just 2.4 goals over their last five games. The under has cashed in both meetings this season and I look for another lower scoring game on Friday night as well.
