Against the Spread Pick
Death, taxes, and Damian Lillard completely going off in pretty much any game the Portland Trail Blazers play these days…. Those are the three certainties of life. Okay, Denver actually contained Lillard on Tuesday–but for the most part he has been unstoppable. In the previous eight games he had delivered no less than 34 points (including at least 47 on four occasions). The Trail Blazers had won four in a row prior to their setback against the Nuggets. As for the San Antonio Spurs, they are set for stop No. 3 on an eight-game “Rodeo Road Trip” while the annual San Antonio Rodeo takes over the AT&T Center. Mental and physical fatigue could set in sooner rather than later for a squad that is already 0-2 on the trek. San Antonio is 1-3-1 ATS in its last five trips to Portland. The Trail Blazers are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. Go with PORTLAND.
Over Under Pick
Lillard is unconscious–or at least he was going into Tuesday. San Antonio surrendered 219 points to the Lakers earlier this week. The over is 4-1 in the Spurs’ last five on the road and 4-0 in their last four against opponents with losing records. It is also 8-1 in the Trail Blazers’ last nine overall and 35-15-1 in their last 51 at home. Additionally, the over is 20-7 in the last 27 meetings between the two teams and 4-1 in San Antonio’s last five at Portland. Take the OVER.
