Against the Spread Pick
The San Antonio Spurs will be playing the second game of a back-to-back situation when they visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday. Fortunately for the Spurs there is no travel involved, as they faced the Clippers on Monday–also at the Staples Center, of course. San Antonio had won two in a row heading into that showdown, pulling to within just two games of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. As for the Lakers, they may hit a post-Kobe Bryant memorial lull in which any adrenaline is gone and they are just bogged down by malaise. Only time will tell, but for now it’s hard to see this one being a complete blowout. The Spurs are 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall, 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 on the road, 7-2 ATS in their last nine against opponents with winning percentages over .600, and 4-1 ATS in their last five playing on zero days of rest. Los Angeles is 2-5 ATS in its last seven as a favorite. Twelve point should be enough for SAN ANTONIO.
Over Under Pick
The winning team has scored at least 127 points in three of L.A.’s past four outings. DeMar DeRozan led San Antonio in scoring in five straight heading into Monday, with 36 and 38 points in two of the past three. The over is 6-2 in the Spurs’ last eight on the road and 18-6 in their last 24 playing on zero days of rest. It is also 9-2 in the Lakers’ last 11 overall. Additionally, the over is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings between the two teams and 7-1 in San Antonio’s last eight at Los Angeles. Lean toward the OVER.
