Against The Spread Pick
George Mason has managed to scrap together a respectable season, while Saint Joseph’s is coming off one of the more shocking wins this year. The lowly Hawks managed to take down Davidson with one the worst defenses in the country allowing an average of 80.4 points per game. George Mason features a pretty average defense, coupled with a less than average offense. St. Joe’s manages to somehow get worse on the road giving up an average 85 points per game and allowing opponents to shoot almost 50 percent from the field. Yikes. Neither team is particularly good at covering with both sitting at 11-14-1 ATS this season. With George Mason on home court and being what I see as the better team despite St. Joe’s recent upset, I am leaning George Mason with the points.
Over Under Pick
With the defense in this game being at a minimal the over seems like the play. The over has hit in four of George Mason’s last six and four times in the last six matchups between the teams. The over has also hit in five of St. Joe’s last seven. I see both teams being able to run their totals into the 70s. Both teams have hit the over most this season and I don’t see anyway either team doesn’t continue that trend. Bad defense typically means more offensive rebounds and more second chances to score. Take the over.
