Against The Spread Pick

The Big Sky tournament tips-off on Wednesday morning at 11:30 A.M. Eastern Time. The first game up will feature the 8th seeded Weber Sate Wildcats taking on the 9th seeded Sacramento State Hornets. These teams have identical conference records of 8-12 and while Weber State is the worse team, they actually won the tiebreaker with Sacramento State. Not that the seeding means all that much in this tournament since it will be played on a neutral floor. Now in this situation with two lesser teams, looking at how they fare against the spread could be important. The Hornets were 16-11 ATS this season, while the Wildcats were 11-16-1. Even though they are the 9-seed, I have to lean with the better overall team and take Sacramento State ATS.

Over Under Pick

I am less interested in the total as it is hard to determine how these teams are going to perform. Being that they are not good anyway, the fact that they are wildly inconsistent just makes it harder to break down. I will go off of recent performances, which show both teams have been able to score an average of 73 to 75 points per game over their last five. Weber State’s defense is allowing 76 points per game over the same stretch, which leads me to believe this game is going to see a lot of points. The over was 2-0 in their two meetings this season as well. For that reason, I would lean to the over, but would be staying far away from this one regardless.
