Roger Federer insists he’s still had a”positive” season despite being unable to add to his own Grand Slam tally.
The 20-time significant winner had appeared destined to get a box-office final against Rafael Nadal in what could have been the fantastic rivals’ first meeting at the usa Open but the Korean superstar suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals in Flushing Meadows.
Dimitrov had not beaten Federer in some of their seven games, and had taken only two sets him off. Nevertheless, the Bulgarian sealed the greatest win of his career against the 38-year-old in five places on Tuesday below the Arthur Ashe lights.

“(I have) got to take the losses. They are part of the sport,” added Federer. “Looking forward to family time and all of that stuff, so life’s all right.”
