Against The Spread Pick
This is a vital game for Davidson if they want to improve their standing in the Atlantic 10. As it stands the Wildcats are 7-6 in conference and are tied for 6th place. Davidson’s only chance to sneak into the big dance is to win the conference tournament, which means they will have to go through Dayton at some point. By winning games down the stretch, Davidson can increase their chances of avoiding Dayton as long as possible. Rhode Island on the other hand, is sitting comfortably in the tournament field, projected to be a 9-seed by ESPN’s Joe Lunardi. The Rams are 11-2 in the conference, just two games behind Dayton. Note that Rhode Island is 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games against the Atlantic 10 and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall. Being on the road should not affect the Rams either, as they are 8-4 ATS away from home this season. That being said, I look for Rhode Island to not only cover, but to get the outright win.
Over Under Pick
The total is one I like a lot less than the side because these teams have proven to be streaky. By that I mean they will score in the 70s one game and then turn around and score in the 60s or less in the very next game. Overall these teams are scoring an average of 73-74 points per game, but the defenses are both allowing about 67. Davidson has proven to be much better at home, where they average about 80 points, while allowing 59.6. Recently points have been coming in waves as both sides are averaging between 76 and 78 points per game over their last five. I look for the offenses to continue playing at a high level and will lean slightly to the over here.
