Against the Spread Pick
Damian Lillard is positively unconscious heading into the Portland Trail Blazers’ road date with the Denver Nuggets. He is the hottest player in the NBA right now and it’s not even close. Lillard has scored at least 34 points in eight consecutive contests, including eruptions of 61, 47, 50, 48, and 51 points. He has shot at least 52.4 percent from the floor in five straight games. Not coincidentally, Portland has won four in a row and is within two games of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Denver has dropped two of its past four, coming off a bad overtime loss at Detroit. The Trail Blazers are 4-0 ATS in their last four overall and 4-0 ATS in their last four against opponents with winning records. Denver is 4-10-2 ATS in its last 16 against opponents with losing records and 1-4-2 ATS in their last seven at home against opponents with losing road records. PORTLAND should be able to cover the spread.
Over Under Pick
Until Lillard starts cooling off, unders must be avoided at all costs with Portland. For Denver, Nikola Jokic (20.2 ppg) has delivered at least 24 points in five of the past six games. The over is 7-1 in the Trail Blazers’ last eight overall and 9-4 in their last 13 against opponents with winning records. It is also 11-4 in the Nuggets’ last 15 against opponents with losing records. Additionally, the over is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings between the two teams. Back the OVER with plenty of confidence.
