Money Line Pick
Both of these teams made the playoffs last season but you might not have noticed as they both made their exits inthe first round. Last season Portland was about the middle of the pack in terms of scoring and goal prevention. If they are going to challenge clubs like Seattle they need to improve in both areas. They have brought in some designated players they hope can find the back of the net more often but this will be our first chance to see if it makes much of a difference. The Loons are still a relative newcomer to MLS and are looking to build on last year when they finished 7th. They have also brought in some talent but could not find a way to keep their goalkeeper, who was critical to their success last season. These teams scored the same number of goals a season ago but it was the ability to prevent them that made the difference for Minnesota. Look for a draw here.
Over Under Pick
Neither of these teams are elite when it comes to scoring and this is the first game of the season it more likely it is played kind of tight, with both happy to get a result to get started. I am looking for that draw to be 1-1 so take the under.
