Money Line Pick
The Pittsburgh Penguins have made the Metropolitan Division an even tighter race and they could make even more noise as they make a visit to Capital One Arena for a clash with the Capitals. Washington has picked up where they left off before the all-star break and has won five of its last six games. The Penguins have played their rival Philadelphia in each of their last two games. One of which was a shutout loss, and then they followed that up with a gritty overtime win. The Penguins are 9-3 in their last 12 games on the road but haven’t had the best luck in recent trips to Capital One Arena. This match-up is bound to be highly competitive and will be a must-see clash on NBC. The last few meetings have been tough, but Washington has been notoriously hard to beat at home. Therefore backing the Capitals with confidence is a must.
Over Under Pick
Pittsburgh and Washington are among the NHL’s top goal-scoring teams, but that doesn’t mean they have been able to score at that level in recent head-to-head meetings. The Penguins have scored two goals or less in two of the last three meetings. Their most recent clash saw the teams combine for eight goals in a 5-3 victory for the Penguins. Both teams have had plenty of over totals in their respective last five games. Washington hasn’t scored less than four goals in each of their last five games. Be wary, but an over 6.5-goal total seems quite likely here. So take it.
