Money Line Pick
Two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference will face off on Thursday night. The Tampa Bay Lightning come into this game struggling though, winning just 3 of their last 10 games. They still have 92 points on the season, so they are safe in terms of not making the playoffs, but they really need to be in top form if they are going to make a postseason run. Philadelphia on the other hand, are playing extremely well right now and have won 9 of their last 10 games. They actually just had their win streak snapped when they lost 2-0 at Boston in their most recent game. The Lightning have already defeated this Flyers team twice this season, winning 1-0 in January and 5-3 in February. Tampa Bay are also an amazing home team, posting a 22-10-2 record in their own arena. While I do not love fading the Flyers, the Lightning at home are a much better team, so I will lean their way to get back into the win column.
Over Under Pick
The total is much more inviting because we have two very high scoring teams playing in this game. The Lightning score about 3.5 goals per game, while Philly averages 3.3. Yes, Philly got shutout by Boston, but the Bruins play elite defense at home. Tampa Bay also plays great defense, but just allowed 5 goals to Detroit of all teams the other night. I am not confident they can keep Philly in check either and believe they are going to allow quite a few here. The over is 37-16-4 in the last 57 meetings and a combined 34-21 in road/home games and that is what I like for this Thursday night match-up.
