Money Line Pick
The state of Pennsylvania will be shaking as cross-state rivals take to the ice at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The Flyers and Penguins will be out for blood, as Philadelphia and Pittsburgh square-off for the second time in two weeks. The Flyers were able to completely shut down the Penguins in that last match-up en route to a 3-0 shutout. Philadelphia is 4-1 in its last five games, while Pittsburgh is 3-2 in the same span. The Penguins have made defending their home ice a priority, but the Flyers have had the mojo in recent visits to PPG Paints Arena. That includes four wins in their last five visits. Both teams have been highly competitive but given Philly’s recent success, a play on the Flyers’ money line is a must.
Over Under Pick
The Flyers were able to take care of business in the last head-to-head meeting without any pressure from the Penguins. That game was just the second meeting in the last five to have a total of fewer than five goals. Three of those last five meetings have had seven-goal or more totals. Both teams are averaging more than three goals, but Pittsburgh seemed to lack effort in their final game before the All-Star break. They now have a chance at revenge, with the Flyers coming into PPG Paints Arena. The last game played there was an ugly performance for Philadelphia, in a 7-1 thrashing by the Penguins. With both teams having proven offenses, a high confidence play on the over is the smart move.
