Against the Spread Pick
The Miami Heat lead the overall head-to-head series against the Philadelphia 76ers 2-1 and have won two in a row at the Clippers’ expense. Miami was a bit inconsistent in January but it has lost two games in a row only once this season–none since Jan. 12. A different player has led the Heat in scoring in six of the past seven outings (only Jimmy Butler has done it twice…most recently with 24 points in Saturday’s romp over Orlando). The 76ers have dropped two straight and may be feeling some fatigue in the middle of a four-game road trip. Philadelphia is 1-4 ATS in its last five overall, 5-15-1 ATS in its last 21 on the road, and 1-4 ATS in its last five against opponents with winning records. The Heat are 17-7-1 ATS in their last 25 at home, 15-6-1 ATS in their last 22 as favorites, and 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings between the two teams. Go with MIAMI.
Over Under Pick
This is a nice opportunity for the over with such a low total, but proceed with caution; this not going to completely soar over 213. That being said, Butler is red hot for Miami and Ben Simmons is averaging 25.5 ppg for Philly in the past two outings (his season average is 16.7 ppg). The over is 18-8 in the Heat’s last 26 overall, 13-6 in their last 19 at home, 7-2 in their last nine against opponents with winning percentages over .600, and 13-4 in their last 17 following a win. It is also 4-1 in Philadelphia’s last five trips to Miami. Take the OVER.
