Puck Line Pick
Since their win on January 28th, the Senators have gone on to win their last five games in a row, which includes a 2-5 road loss against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. Ottawa is now 18-26-11 on the season, putting them in 7th place in the Atlantic Division, and gives them the 3rd worst record in the NHL this season. The Senators will look to snap their losing streak when they travel to take on the Colorado Avalanche. Meanwhile, the Colorado Avalanche have been one of the best teams in the Western Conference. Nathan MacKinnon has been one of the main reasons for Colorado’s success this season. MacKinnon has the 4th most points in the league this season with 32 goals and 44 assists. The Avalanche have also won their previous four games in a row, including a 3-2 road win over the Wild on Sunday. MacKinnon has also scored a goal in two consecutive games, including Sunday’s game-winning goals. I look for MacKinnon to make it three games in a row with a goal and for the Avalanche to win and cover the puck line on Tuesday.
Over Under Pick
The Avalanche has been the highest-scoring team in the league this season, with 3.65 goals per game. Defensively, they have been a top ten team as well, as they are allowing the 9th fewest goals in the NHL this season with 2.85 goals allowed per game. Meanwhile, the Ottawa Senators have been one of the lowest-scoring teams in the NHL this season, as they enter this game averaging 6th fewest goals per game with 2.67. Ottawa is also allowing the 3rd most goals per game this season, which is never a good thing when you face the highest-scoring team in the NHL. As a result, I look for the over 6.5 goals to be the play in this spot as I look for the Avalanche to be the highest-scoring team on Tuesday.
