Money Line Pick
As we jump into MLS season, one of the first day’s matchups will be Orlando City vs Real Salt Lake. Last year, Orlando City finished with 9 wins and was the 11th team in the Eastern Conference, while Real Salt Lake had 16 wins and was third in the Western conference. Real Salt Lakes’ off-season was very hectic, as they hired a new head coach, Freddy Juarez, and had a lot of roster shake ups. On the other side, Orlando City can really only go up from last season. This game will see two of Orlando’s primary offensive weapons be held out as Dom Dwyer is out with a back injury, and Nani is serving a two game suspension that he obtained in last year’s finale vs Chicago. Going into this game, Salt Lake is definitely going to come out strong, as they look to compete with the top teams in the West this year. Orlando is a talented team, however, with Dwayer and Nani out, I expect RSL to easily handle Orlando. Go with Real Salt Lake.
Over Under Pick
Salt Lake and Orlando averaged a combined 2.64 goals all of last season, and both teams averaged less than one assist per game last year. Despite this, Real Salt Lake will be without star defender Everton Luiz, and even though Orlando will be without their main offensive weapons, I believe that there will be a good amount of goals scored. In the first game of the season, expect the two teams to come out firing, and with reshaped rosters on both teams, expect some defensive breakdowns every so often. It’s a close call, but I like the OVER in tonight’s game
