Bookmakers have cut odds on Chelsea starlet Mason Mount getting a place in England’s initial 23-man Euro 2020 squad.
Having been priced at 15/2 last week, even the 20-year-old is currently only 7/2. That places him only behind Jack Grealish (2/1), that in the weekend extended his undesirable record of consecutive Premier League declines as a participant.
Having played Frank Lampard’s stewardship on loan at Derby County, Mount is already enjoying lots of game-time now the pair have been reunited in the blue colors of Chelsea.
The child scored a hard-fought target in the first minute of his Premier League home debut in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Sunday.
Mount was a key player for Derby last year, scoring 11 days from midfield. That effort has already earned him a complete England call-up and plenty are expecting him to drive himself into Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 plans this season.
Together with Chelsea at the winner of a transfer ban, manager Frank Lampard is likely to exude his younger players and he speeds Mount very highly.
Teammates Ross Barkley (5/6) and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (5/6) are also fancied to create the squad, even although the latter will have ground to make up after his long injury lay-off.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson:”Rifling his Super Cup punishment to the upper corner and then hounding the Leicester defence to bag his first senior goal at Stamford Bridge, Mason Mount isn’t short of confidence.
“Lampard is a big fan of Mount from his period at Derby, and if he maintain repaying him like he did Sunday, the 7/2 about a Euro 2020 spot could look a massive price come the close of the year”
