Against the Spread Pick
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have won four games in a row, but it is safe to say that the competition level ratchets up dramatically on Tuesday. Notre Dame’s four recent victories have come at the expense of Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, and Clemson. None of those teams currently find themselves in the top seven of the ACC standings. Sophomore guard Prentiss Hubb (11.8 ppg) has been held to single-digits on four consecutive occasions. The Virginia Cavaliers are by no means the National Championship-winning team of last year, but they have started to pick up the pace this season. UVA had won three in a row before falling at fifth-ranked Louisville this past weekend. There is no shame in that, as the Cardinals are No. 5 in the nation. Tomas Woldetensae (6.4 ppg) has scored more than 20 points in two of the last four games. VIRGINIA should have no trouble taking care of business.
Over Under Pick
Against anyone without an extremely potent offense like Louisville, taking the over in any Virginia game with the total in the 120s should be avoided. Notre Dame is coming off a 61-57 win over Clemson. The under is 10-4 in the Fighting Irish’s last 14 on the road, 15-5 in their last 20 against opponents with winning percentages over .600, and 9-3 in their last 12 on the road against opponents with winning home records. It is also 6-1 in the Cavaliers’ last seven at home against opponents with losing road records. Take the UNDER.
