Against The Spread Pick
The Maryland Terrapins have won eight in a row and their 21-4 record has them at No. 7 in the nation, but more often than not they are just scraping by against inferior competition. All eight of the Terrapins’ recent victories have come by more more than 11 points and six have come by single-digits. The second game in this stretch was an 11-point defeat of the Northwestern Wildcats, whom Maryland faces again on Tuesday. Northwestern is in the midst of a nine-game losing streak and is a ridiculous 1-14 in its last 15 contests. But the ‘Cats have been surprisingly competitive on the road, recently extending Rutgers to overtime while losing to both Indiana and 24th-ranked Illinois by four. Five different players have led them in scoring over the past five outings, so there is plenty of depth on the roster. The road team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 head-to-head matchups. Lean toward NORTHWESTERN.
Over Under Pick
Three different Northwestern guys are averaging in double-figures and five are contributing at least 8.0 ppg. This squad is shooting 74.0 percent from the free-throw line and turning the ball over just 10.8 times per game. For Maryland, Anthony Cowan Jr. and Jalen Smith have been outstanding of late. A total of 143 points were scored in the previous meeting between these two Big Ten rivals. Look for this one to go OVER the total.
