Arizona Coyotes

Money Line Pick

One of the more exciting President’s Day games will see two playoff contenders go head to head. As of Sunday night, the Islanders are the 5th-seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, while the Coyotes are the 8th-seed in the West. Neither team has been playing great hockey, with both teams going 2-3 over their last five games. What’s worse for Arizona is they have lost two in a row and have been outscored 6-0 in these games. The Coyotes are coming off a home win over Washington, so they certainly have the momentum entering this holiday. Trends would show that the favorite is 12-3 in the last 15 meetings and the home team is 21-7-2 in the last 30 meetings between these teams. Arizona has proven to be an effective home team, so I like the Coyotes here as a small lean.

Over Under Pick

We have two teams here that are not exactly going to run up the score each and every night. Neither team averages more than three goals per game, but also neither team allows more than three goals on the season as a whole. Going back to the recent struggles, the Islanders are now giving up an average of three goals, while the Islanders have allowed 2.6. With this low of a total, the over is really the only way I can look. It would be a lean at best, but expect enough scoring to push this one above the total.
