Money Line Pick
Two of the league’s worst teams will go head to head here in a very lackluster Tuesday night game. It is hard to believe that Detroit is already eliminated from the playoffs, but it is deserving if you look at their record and season as a whole. New Jersey really is not all that much better, however they have actually won two games in a row. The Red Wings have dominated this Devils team, going 15-4 in the last 19 meetings played in Detroit. Detroit is 0-2 against New Jersey this season, but also both meetings were played in New Jersey. While I almost would never recommend Detroit, their success at home against the Devils at home can not go unnoticed, so I lean slightly to the Red Wings.
Over Under Pick
I like the total a little more than the side because we have two horrible offensive teams. The Devils are averaging 2.7 goals per game, while Detroit averages just 2 goals. New Jersey has been a little better defensively, at least as of late (the last five games) where they are allowing 2.8 goals and the Red Wings are allowing 4.0. The under is 7-0-1 in Detroit’s last 8 against a team from the Metropolitan Division and 8-0-1 in the last 9 games where the Devils were the favorite. Look for the offenses to continue to struggle and take the under to cash in this game.
