Puck Line Pick

The New Jersey Devils will be at a slight disadvantage coming into Friday night’s game as they played Thursday night against the Detroit Red Wings. The Devils did beat the Red Wings 4-1, which give them wins in three of their last four games. They still are having a disastrous season, sitting well outside the playoff picture. On the other side is Carolina, who are right in the middle of the playoff race. As of Thursday night, they trail the Philadelphia Flyers by 2 points for the final spot in the Eastern Conference. Not only do the Hurricanes have a rest advantage, but they are one of the better home teams in the league, posting a record of 18-9-1. Even though I went with New Jersey on Thursday, I cannot trust them to beat a better team in the Hurricanes on a back to back. I will take Carolina on the puck line as a lean to find the most value.

Over Under Pick

New Jersey scored 4 goals against Detroit, but do not expect a repeat performance on Friday. The Devils average just 2.7 goals per game and just 2.48 goals per game away from home. Carolina may be struggling recently on defense, allowing 4.2 goals per game over their last five, however they still allow just 2.54 goals in home games. The under is 6-1-2 in the last 9 meetings in Carolina. The under is also 15-4-4 in the last 23 meetings. I look for the Devils to go back to struggling on offense and I will take the under as a lean.
