Puck Line Pick
The Canadiens are really at a low point of their season, losing again to Detroit in their previous game. Yes, Montreal lost all four meetings with the Red Wings, so keep that in mind. Also, the Canadiens have lost five games in a row and are starting to fall even further down the conference standings. On the other side is the Washington Capitals, who have fallen to 3rd in the Eastern Conference. The Capitals have lost two in a row and four of their last five, but they are still the superior team. Washington is 16-9-4 at home this season and Montreal are 3-7 in their last 10 meetings with the Capitals. At this point in time, both teams are struggling, but knowing that Montreal cannot beat Detroit has me leaning to Washington to win on the puck line.
Over Under Pick
Despite Montreal playing some terrible hockey as of late, their offense has still been able to produce goals. However, defense has been a much bigger problem for both the Canadiens and Capitals. During their five-game losing streak, Montreal are allowing 3.8 goals per game. As for Washington, they are allowing 4 goals per game over their 1-4 stretch. The Capitals are 20-9 to the over in 29 home games this season and I look for the over to easily cash in this game as well.
