Money Line Pick
Two struggling teams will go head to head on Saturday night looking to turn their season around before it is too late. Montreal did just beat Washington 4-3 in overtime in their last game to snap a five-game losing. They still find themselves with a ton of work to do, currently trailing the Hurricanes by 8 points as of Friday night. As for Ottawa, it may be too late for them to make a push for the playoffs. They are the second worst team in the East as well. All three of their meetings this season have gone to overtime, so we should expect a close game here as well. Montreal have two of the three meetings as well, and I look for them to edge out Ottawa on the road. This is probably a game I will not be betting, but it would be a lean to the Canadiens.
Over Under Pick
The total is more intriguing in this match-up because we have two lackluster offenses. The Canadiens average 3 goals per game, but the Senators average just 2.7. It does not help that defense has been poor as of late, but in all three meetings this season, the under has cashed. The under is 8-3 in Montreal’s last 11 games as a favorite. The under is also 16-7-1 in Montreal’s last 24 games overall. I look for the lack of offense to be the difference in this game and that will keep the total under.
