Montana State

Portland State

PRST -4 Point Spread

Against The Spread Pick

Both of these teams were just good enough in the regular season to warrant a bye in the first round. That means they each should be well rested and should have a solid game-plan of their opponent. Portland State are the hotter team coming in, ending the season on a six-game win streak. On the other side, Montana State lost four of their final six games to end the year. Both meetings between these two teams in the regular season went Portland State’s way. The Vikings have also now covered in 8 of the last 10 meetings with the Bobcats. This game would not be on my card, but I would lean to the more dominant team and will take Portland State to win by enough to cover.

Over Under Pick

The total is going to come down to how the Vikings play. They are averaging 77 points per game this season and 84 points over their last five games. They play at a much faster pace than the Bobcats and therefore if they can start fast, it will force Montana State to try and keep up. The over easily cashed in both regular season meetings this year as well, so they already know they can score plenty on each other. The over is 13-3 in Portland State’s last 16 games and 6-2 in Montana State’s last 8 games. I look for these trends to continue and will take the over as a lean.
