Minnesota Wild

Detroit Red Wings

MIN Wild -1.5 Point Spread

Under 5.5 Game Totals

Puck Line Pick

This is a game the Wild must win if they want to remain in the playoff hunt. Minnesota is trailing Nashville by 3 points as of Tuesday, so they cannot afford to lose games against teams like Detroit. Speaking of the Red Wings, there really is not anything positive to say about them. They continue to lose every night and have made it clear they want to play for the top draft pick. Now losers of three in a row, Detroit could not even hang with a below average New Jersey team. They have scored 2 or less goals in 8 of their last 10 games as well. Minnesota bounced back from a 4-1 loss to the Blues by beating Columbus 5-4 in their last game. The Red Wings are 2-7 in their last 9 home games as well. I just cannot back Detroit here, so I will take the Wild on the puck line.

Over Under Pick

It is really hard to bet a total when Detroit is involved in a game. The Red Wings score an average of just 2 goals per game. They are easily the worst offense in the NHL. Minnesota does not have that elite of an offense either, averaging just 3 goals. Both teams are scoring less than 2.8 goals per game over their last five, so I would lean to the under and look for enough defense to be played to keep the scoring limited.
