Against The Spread Pick
A decent Big Ten match-up will see the Minnesota Golden Gophers take on the Indiana Hoosiers on Wednesday night. Indiana is currently in the field of 68 with one of the “Last Four Byes” according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi. The Gophers on the other hand, have lost five of their last six with their only win coming against Northwestern. Their collapse in the game against Maryland last week and a weekend loss to Wisconsin has basically put the Gophers well outside the postseason picture. Minnesota probably needs a deep run in next week’s Big Ten tournament and that might not even be enough. For the Hoosiers, losing this game at home would be a huge hit to their resume and could put them on the outside looking in. They already beat Minnesota on the road this season and now at home, I look for the Hoosiers to dominate. Indiana has covered in four of the last five meetings with the Golden Gophers and I will lay the points with the Hoosiers here as a strong lean.
Over Under Pick
Indiana has been a much better team at home this season, scoring an average of 78 points per game. In turn, their defense has also been elite on their home floor, where they allow an average of 66.9. Minnesota’s scoring is down on the road, coming in at 64 points per game, but their defense still allows less than 70 points on average. The under is 22-8-1 in Minnesota’s last 31 road games too, so I look for this to be a defensive game and will lean under.
