Illinois -5 Point Spread

Under 135 Game Totals

Against the Spread Pick

This is a huge game for the Golden Gophers if they are going to make a run for the Big Dance. Minnesota has just one away win in the Big Ten (Ohio State), however their overall resume is likely not good enough to be considered right now. Illinois on the other hand, are having a magical season, posting a 7-2 conference record and are tied for first place in the Big Ten. The Fighting Illini have yet to lose a conference home game and I believe this is a spot where they are going to dominate against a poor road team. Note that the favorite is 7-1 in the last 8 head to head meetings between these teams. That being said, I like the Fighting Illini to get the job done with ease and to remain at the top of the Big Ten.

Over Under Pick

The total is 135 in this game and this is one I would probably stay away from. The Fighting Illini are somewhat inconsistent scoring the ball, averaging 73.2 points per game. They have had games where they do not even reach 60 points an other games where they score almost 80. Same goes with their defense. Earlier this season, they allowed 37 points in a game to Purdue, but they a couple games later, they allow 71 to Northwestern. The under is 7-3 in Illinois’ last 10 Big Ten games and 21-5-1 in Minnesota’s last 27 road games. Again, this is a total to stay away from, but the under would be my lean if I were to bet it.
