Against The Spread Pick
The previous matchup between the Clemson Tigers and Miami (FL) Hurricanes went to overtime, with the ‘Canes prevailing on the road via a 73-68 decision on Dec. 31. Another good one should be in the cards for round two of the ACC Tournament. The 10th-seeded Hurricanes should be confident given their past performance at Clemson and because they are coming off a two-point loss to Virginia followed by an overtime win at Syracuse’s expense. Isiah Wong (7.7 ppg) has contributed double-figures in 10 of the past 12 contests–including more than 20 in three of the past eight. The ninth-seeded Tigers have dropped two straight at the hands of Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes are 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall. Clemson is 1-4 ATS in its last five as a favorite. It is also worth noting that the underdog is 15-6-1 ATS in the last 22 meetings between the two teams. Go with MIAMI.
Over Under Pick
Clemson scored only 58 points against the Hokies and 6-2 against the Yellow Jackets. Nobody on the team is averaging more than 13.0 ppg (Aamir Simms) and only one other Tiger besides Simms is averaging in double-figures (Tevin Mack at 12.3 ppg). The under is 10-4 in the Hurricanes’ last 14 at neutral sites as underdogs. It is also 4-1 in the Tigers’ last five following a loss. Look for this one to stay UNDER the total.
