Against the Spread Pick
The Memphis Grizzlies will be hoping to halt a two-game losing streak when they visit the Connecticut Huskies on Sunday. Although Memphis coming off consecutive setbacks against South Florida and Cincinnati, this team has not lost by more than four points (the amount it is getting on Sunday) in regulation since Jan. 22–a span of six contests. Precious Achiuwa delivered 22 points and 17 rebounds during Thursday’s overtime loss to Cincinnati. Connecticut is in the midst of a dreadful stretch in which it has dropped eight of its last 12 games. The Huskies most recently fell at SMU on Wednesday, watching their American Athletic Conference record plunge to 4-7. They are turning the ball over a ridiculous 14.3 times per game this season. Take MEMPHIS and the points.
Over Under Pick
D.J. Jeffries, perhaps Memphis’ best interior defender, is out until March because of a knee injury. Connecticut may be able to capitalize, as leading scorer Christian Vital (14.2 ppg) has scored in double-figures in 10 straight outings. The Huskies’ most recent game against Cincinnati resulted in a 92-86 score, albeit in overtime. Another high-scoring contest is likely in the cards. Lean toward the OVER.
