Against the Spread Pick
Proceed with extreme caution here, as both the Cincinnati Bearcats and Memphis Tigers are banged up heading into Thursday’s showdown. For Cincinnati, leading scorer Jarron Cumberland (ankle) is questionable along with Keith Williams (undisclosed injury). Memphis could be without second-leading scorer Precious Achiuwa (back) as well as Lance Thomas (undisclosed injury). All things being equal, 6.5 points should be enough for the Tigers–who won at Cincinnati 60-49 on Jan. 16. They have won three of their last four games and have not lost by more than four points in any of their last five. Cincinnati is coming off a 72-71 overtime setback at Connecticut this past Sunday. The Bearcats are 2-7 ATS in their last nine at home against opponents with road winning percentages over .600. It is also worth noting that the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five head-to-head matchups. Keep an eye on injury updates but MEMPHIS is probably the way to go.
Over Under Pick
Cincinnati managed only 49 points against Memphis in the previous meeting and a lot more than that could be a difficult ask if Cumberland doesn’t go. Even if both teams have close to a full deck of cards, this will still likely be a defensive battle. The under is 9-1 in the Tigers’ last 10 on the road and 5-1 in their last six against opponents with winning records. It is also 4-1 in the Bearcats’ last five at home, 5-1 in their last six against opponents with winning records, and 41-14 in their last 55 at home against opponents with winning road records. Back the UNDER with plenty of confidence.
