Against the Spread Pick
UMass’ win over VCU during the regular season was their first since 2016. The game fell well under the total, as nobody topped even 60 points. VCU is a good but not elite defensive team this season. You can say the same about their offense too. The Minutemen are not strong defensively but I am expecting that to be a little mitigated by the need for VCU to win some games for respectability. Take the under.
Over Under Pick
The 8th seeded Ohio Bobcats easily won their first round game to set up a date with top seeded Akron. This will also be the first quarterfinal game of the day for this conference. It is important to note that the MAC decided to close off the tournament to the public due to the coronavirus, so this game is going to have a much different feel than it normally would. Especially since both teams are based in Ohio and would probably have a large fan base to cheer them on. Both meetings this season were pretty close in score, as Akron won both by an average of 4.5 points. Ohio managed to cover both of these games as well, and I expect a strong showing from the underdog here as well. The Bobcats are 13-3 ATS over their last 16 games and I lean their way to keep this game extremely close too.
