Against The Spread Pick
UTEP actually has the better record at 17-14 despite being several ranks lower than Marshall. It is like this way for a reason however, as UTEP has a below .500 record in conference play compared to Marshall’s 10-8 record in conference. Marshall also went 6-3 in their last nine games, including a ten-point win vs UTEP. UTEP has won four games in a row to end the season, and that closes the gap somewhat, however every team that they beat has a lower ranking than them. UTEP’s success is deceiving as their strength of schedule has been really soft, and their record gives off the impression that they are better than they actually are. Take Marshall tonight.
Over Under Pick
UTEP has been hovering in the 65-70 point range over the last six or seven games, including some highs and lows here and there. I would expect them to score around the same in tonight’s game, as I don’t think the tournament mentality will kick in for them because, well, they just aren’t good enough. Marshall on the hand has been on a scoring roll, scoring over 80 points four times in the last six games. I think that Marshall will carry this momentum into the tournament. Marshall isn’t great defensively so that should give UTEP a boost, and as long as UTEP puts up a respectable amount of points, it should be no problem for these teams to reach the total. Take the OVER tonight.
