Money Line Pick
The LSU Tigers have fallen upon hard times, with a 1-4 record in their last five games. That explains why they are +1 underdogs at the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday. On the bright side for the Tigers, three of their four recent losses have come on the road (one was a one-point loss at Auburn in overtime) and the other was to Kentucky at home. So it’s not like LSU is playing absolutely terrible basketball. As for the Gamecocks, they are coming off a setback at Mississippi State on Wednesday. Justin Minaya (7.8 ppg) is out with a thumb injury and fellow forward Jalyn McCreary is questionable with concussion-like symptoms. McCreary is a reserve, but he is logging double-digit minutes per game and would be a key component with Minaya out. LSU is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 as a home underdog. Take the TIGERS, and don’t bother with the one point.
Over Under Pick
South Carolina is not going to want to run with LSU. And the Gamecocks should be able to prevent from having to do so. In four of their past six outings, the losing team has scored no more than 61 points. Only three players are averaging in double-figures, none more than 13.7 ppg (A.J. Lawson). The under is 7-3 in the Gamecocks’ last 10 at home, 3-0-1 in their last four against opponents with winning percentages over .600, and 19-8 in their last 27 following a loss. Go with the UNDER.
