Puck Line Pick

Two teams on basically the opposite ends of the NHL will face off in this Tuesday cross-conference clash. We have the Washington Capitals (the best team in the entire NHL) and the Los Angeles Kings (the 2nd worst team in the NHL and the worst team in the Western Conference). The Kings come in having won just two of their last ten games. They have just eight wins on the road this year, so they are terrible in that regard as well. Washington is one of the top home teams, posting a record of 15-7-4. Going off of that, the home team is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings. I look for the Capitals to easily win this game and because they are such a big favorite, I like them on the puck line as a lean.

Over Under Pick

This is a total I would stay away from because of the inconsistencies Los Angeles have had scoring the puck. They average just 2.5 goals per game compared to Washington’s 3.6 goals. Furthermore, the Kings average 2.34 goals per game on the road and just 2 goals per game in their last five. The Capitals have been lighting up the scoreboard however, scoring an average of 4.4 goals over their last five. To hit an over, you really need both teams scoring and Los Angeles has not showed they can do this enough. That being said, I will lean to the under.
