Puck Line Pick
The Kings East-Coast trip only gets tougher as they visit the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to face the Islanders. Los Angeles has been near terrible in their last 10 games, so much so that they have lost eight of those 10 games. That also includes two straight losses, including Tuesday’s visit to Washington, where they couldn’t slow the Capitals down. New York rebounded from a tough loss to Vancouver with a gritty win against Dallas. The Kings face one of the leagues best defensive teams, and the Islanders are also far better than Los Angeles in one particular area, and that is winning close games. The Kings have been a must avoid team on the road with losses in five of their last six road games. That trend must continue here. Back New York on the puck line with some confidence.
Over Under Pick
Goals have been one category that Los Angeles hasn’t been a luxury. With a 30th-ranked goal average, it isn’t likely the Kings will be able to produce more than two goals on any given night. On occasion, they have been able to find the net three times, but it has been pretty uncommon. For the Islanders, their goal totals have been fluctuating all season, and with four-straight games of three goals or more scored. In all reality totals of more than 5.5 goals seems likely whenever the Kings and Islanders square-off. It might be a close get, but we’re banking on the over with high confidence.
