Against the Spread Pick
The La Salle Explorers have lost eight of their last nine games heading into Saturday’s date with the Saint Louis Billikens. La Salle went on a seven-game losing streak, beat Saint Joseph’s, and then got blown out by Richmond 74-47 at home on Wednesday. Saint Joseph’s, it should be noted, is one of only two teams worse than La Salle in the Atlantic 10 (the Hawks are 0-11, while the Explorers are 2-9). Saint Louis may have dropped two in a row, but it had been 6-2 in its previous eight outings. It goes without saying that the Billikens are the far more likely of the two squads to get back on track. Jordan Goodwin (15.3 ppg) is averaging 21.0 ppg over the past two games. The home team is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 head-to-head matchups and the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last five. Back the BILLIKENS with plenty of confidence.
Over Under Pick
St. Louis features four different players in double-figures, led by Goodwin. Javonte Perkins (13.3 ppg) recently poured in 33 points during a win over St. Joseph’s and he scored 15 on 6-for-10 shooting when the Billikens beat La Salle earlier this season. If there is any good news for the Explorers, they are shooting at a respectable 34.1 percent clip from the land of plenty. Lean toward the OVER.
